According to sources found on the Web today, it seems that Joost will move from a full desktop application to a web based interface.
My guess is that they will use RIA technology in order to be better integrated with the desktop. However, I will not try to give an answer for the technology used: Flex or Silverlight ?

I'm not sure how a reasonable person could ask whether a realworld project would show video with something everyone can already use, or ask some subset of them to upgrade first to beta software.... ;-)
(Arrington had a screencast the other day, and he called it "Flash Video", and there's a separate peer-to-peer plugin for redistribution.)
